SENATOR LINES ships high-tech yacht of German sailing elite from Canada to Spain
SENATOR LINES will ship the TP52 sailyacht “Platoon” of the German team around Jochen Schümann and Tim Kröger on its Mediterranean-Canada service MCS Loop B from Montreal to Valencia. The yacht will be loaded on the “Victory” and leave Montreal on 21 April to arrive in Valencia on 01 May 2008.
The German renowned pro-sailor Tim Kröger and the America’s Cup winner and former “World Sailor of the Year” Jochen Schümann will participate with their high-tech yacht in the Audi MedCup from 12-17 May 2008 at the coast line of Alicante/Spain. More than 20 yachts of the Transpac (TP) 52 type from 14 nations will participate in this season-opening series of 6 races in the Mediterranean, which is sometimes also referred to as the “Little America’s Cup”.
The yacht with a length of 16 meters, width of 4.50 meters, height on the cradle of around 3 meters and a total weight of 9.5 tons, including the cradle, will be stowed on the container vessel “Victory” in Montreal, together with the 25m-long mast weighting approximately 300 kg and some further equipment.
The yacht has been at the wharf in Bristol/Rhode Island and will be shipped to Spain for the MedCup 2008, which has gained an enormous importance and attention this year due to the pending lawsuit of the America’s Cup and the following - at least temporary - closing down of “Team Germany” in March.
