Senator Lines offers extra loader in Asia/Middle East trade
Providing evidence of the strong Asia/Middle East trade, Germany's Senator Lines will take slots on a ship making a single "extra loader" voyage next month.
The 1,640-TEU Northern Fortune, operated by Senator's majority owner, Korea's Hanjin Shipping, will start a five-week round-trip when it departs Singapore on Oct. 9. It will arrive back to the Southeast Asia port on Nov. 14 after which the vessel will be phased into its regular liner service.
The vessel's one-off full port rotation will be: Singapore, Busan, Shanghai, Chiwan, Singapore, Port Kelang, Khor Fakkan, Karachi, Port Kelang and back to Singapore.
"The extra loader is an excellent way of promptly reacting to the latest market developments and of matching additional shipping capacity with cargo volumes which normally peak during the autumn months," said Hans-Hermann Mohr, chief executive officer of Senator Lines.
