Senator Lines expects profit
Hanjin’s 80% subsidiary Senator Lines early this year launched Concept 2007 programme is bearing fruit: the Bremen-based carrier expects to write its 2007 profit in double digit million US dollars after having operated in the red in the previous year. The plan induced Senator to, amongst others, reduce annualised carrying capacity by one-third and its number of service routes to 12 (meanwhile 14).

Senator regains its sea legs
Senator Lines, Hanjin Shipping’s German subsidiary container line, is
consolidating its position after this year’s drastic service cutbacks and
redundancies.
The Bremen group has slashed its annual carrying capacity to 420,000teu from
770,000teu through closure of several Far East/Europe services.
It expects profits in the double-digit million-euro range for 2007, its CEO
Hans-Hermann Mohr tells Fairplay. The company plunged into the red again in
2006, although it did not release the exact figures. Earnings this year have
been buoyed by firming freight rates in the Asia/Europe trades as Chinese
exports continued to exceed expectations.

Senator Lines joins the new China North Express (CNX) as a partner
SENATOR LINES is participating as a partner in the new China North Express CNX, which was recently launched by hanjin Shipping and UASC. Only one week after announcing its new Far East- Middle East liner service FMS, the container shipping line from Bremen expanded its portfolio, now comprising 14 services, by yet another offering.
